Day 1,438: Trump was golfing and Pence was skiing — each at swanky locales — while Americans waited for pennies of relief
A stimulus and government bill sat on Donald Trump’s desk for days until he finally found time to sign it on Sunday evening, avoiding a government shutdown at the eleventh hour.
The administration prioritized their own vacations over financial relief — small as may be — to tens of millions of Americans feeling the huge economic effects of COVID-19.
Trump played golf for the third time in four days at his South Florida golf club, despite vowing to work hard and increase the amount paid out to Americans from $600 to $2,000 each. On Sunday evening, he signed the bill that was put on his desk, with vague references about Congress needing to do more (apparently without his input or effort).
His veep, Mike Pence, could be found thousands of miles away, hitting the slopes in Vail, Colorado.
Ski instructors have reportedly been booked for the Pence party at nearby Beaver Creek Resort, and one source confirmed one of the vice president’s brothers has been spotted in town.
Not stopping there, Trump’s treasury secretary could be found at his mansion in Mexico.
Even Trump’s press secretary gleefully posed for a beach picture in Florida.
With less than four weeks to go, the Trump administration is almost going out of their way to show how little they prioritize everyday Americans.
