Day 1,413: COVID-19 daily deaths near all-time high, hospitalizations top 100,000, and Trump is tweeting TV clips

Continuing a grim pattern, one that will likely get far worse as the effects of the Thanksgiving holiday get felt, COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the U.S.

Hospitalizations topped 100,000 for the first time and daily deaths soared to over 2,700 and approached an all-time high. States in all corners of the country are reporting their highest death counts. And more than 300,000 Americans will all-but certainly be dead from COVID-19 before the calendar turns over.

In short: Americans are suffering and dying.

And the elected leader of the country, Donald Trump, has continued to do absolutely nothing. Over the past three days, the only thing on his schedule have been a single meeting each with his vice president, attorney general and secretary of state.

While theoretically that leaves plenty of time to tackle serious issues during his last seven weeks in office, Trump is content to let the nation ail and leave Joe Biden in as bad a position as possible come January 20.

Trump is apparently watching huge amounts of TV, per usual, and just tweeting out clips he finds particularly compelling or pot-stirring. Most are baseless claims related to election irregularities.

The coronavirus rarely gets mentioned by Trump in any capacity unless he is falsely claiming victory for the speed of a vaccine that he promised would actually be ready for wide distribution months ago.
