Day 1,399: Trump couldn’t care less that 250,000 people have died from COVID-19 in the U.S.
The U.S. passed a grim milestone Wednesday, when the 250,000th person in the country died from COVID-19. Daily death rates are surging, with over 1,700 people dying from the coronavirus on Tuesday alone.
With Thanksgiving a week away, and cases certain to surge more after the holiday as families gather and eschew CDC protocols, there is zero indication that Trump cares. He has never suggested that Americans protect themselves during the upcoming holiday.
He continues to tweet baseless conspiracy theories as excuses for losing a fair election.
The closest Trump gets to even mentioning the coronavirus is when he tries to take credit for private companies developing vaccines despite the fact that they didn’t take any public money.
For nearly a year, there hasn’t been a word of comfort provided by Trump to victims or their families, even as Trump experienced the fear of death first hand.
Worse than the lack of empathy, Trump still doesn’t have any type of plan to combat the coronavirus. That’s despite a totally empty schedule. Over the first three days of the week, the only thing on Trump’s public schedule was a single lunch with Mike Pence.
It’s been patently obvious for many months that there won’t be a cogent federal government response until Joe Biden is sworn in on January 20, 2021.
