Day 1,385: As Biden nears 270 electoral votes, Trump predictably and baselessly claims fraud and victory
Joe Biden is nearing 270 Electoral College votes, enough to secure the presidency. While not a done deal, the paths to a Biden victory are becoming clearer, including a wave of mailed in absentee ballots carrying him to victory in Pennsylvania, which would allow him to cross the threshold, no matter what happens in Arizona, Nevada, Georgia or North Carolina.
And, predictably, Donald Trump is claiming victory and fraud.
The latter began in the early hours of Wednesday, just hours after polls closed, where an irate Trump couldn’t believe that all of the votes were being counted.
Hours later, the Rust Belt and Georgia began trending hard in Biden’s direction as mailed in votes were being counted. So a panicked Trump “claimed” the states for himself anyway, alleging “dumped ballots,” despite that having no legal basis.
Non-partisan election officials, Democrats and most Republicans vowed that all votes would be counted.
Biden, meanwhile, took a measured, more presidential stance.
