Day 1,384: Election Day: As votes roll in, it’s clear much of the country still loves Trump
It’s election night in America and Donald Trump and Joe Biden are fighting for votes to be president. Who wins is still very much in the air. But it’s clear that there will be no landslide in either direction.
Biden is highly unlikely to steal any southern states. A Trump wins still presumably hinges on him winning at least one of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Minnesota. Minute-by-minute, Republicans seem more likely to keep the Senate, meaning even if Biden finds a way to eke out a win, most policies are DOA. If Trump wins, Republicans will almost certainly have kept the Senate, and he’ll have impunity to completely reshape the judiciary for a generation, to say nothing about continuing to bungle the COVID-19 response.
This is apparently who the United States is as a country in 2020.
That’s it. That’s the post.
