Day 1,341: Trump gives himself A+ on COVID-19 response and falsely says it really only affects the elderly

It seems that 200,000 dead Americans, with tens of thousands more to surely follow by the CDC’s own forecasting, have not tethered Donald Trump to the realities of COVID-19.

Monday, a glistening Trump falsely shouted to Ohio supporters that the coronavirus affects “virtually nobody” outside of the elderly with comorbidities.

Even if that were true — and, again, it’s not — Trump is callously shrugging off hundreds of thousands of American lives merely because they’re senior citizens.

Earlier in the day, appearing on Fox & Friends for some Monday morning therapy and sycophancy, Trump awarded himself an A+ in fighting a disease that he has mismanaged at every turn, saying he’s done a “phenomenal job.”

While the world has largely returned to pre-coronavirus life, the U.S. continues to suffer the debilitating effects of the virus — from health to the economy to the American way of life — and Trump has convinced himself he has aced this historic test.
