Day 1,259: Trump: Painting ‘Black Lives Matter’ on street is ‘symbol of hate’

Donald Trump doesn’t bother hiding his racism too often these days. Amid poor poll numbers, Trump has determined that tweeting “LAW & ORDER” ad nauseam and stoking racial tensions is his best path toward securing reelection in four months.

Most Republicans, including Mike Pence, have decided that they won’t utter “Black lives matter” under any circumstances, despite it being the bare minimum that would show solidarity with millions of Americans who feel less than.

As of Wednesday, Trump went from refusing to say the words to considering the written words to be a “symbol of hate.” His anger came in response to a plan to simply paint “Black Lives Matter” on Fifth Avenue’s street in New York. (Trump Tower is located on Fifth Avenue.)

Fueling divisions is antithetical to the idea of being president for the entire United States. But, as always, Trump only cares about himself, and is paying no mind to the job he was elected to do.

This is what Trump has chosen to spend an inordinate amount of time and energy doing. After having one non-lunch event on his public schedule on Monday and Tuesday combined, Trump followed it up with a goose egg on Wednesday.
