Day 1,256: Trump thanks ‘great’ supporters in video clip, one of whom clearly shouts ‘white power’ multiple times just seconds into clip
White House claims Trump didn’t hear the racist shouts.
Donald Trump woke up Sunday, and, as he is apt to do, rushed to Twitter. One of the things that caught his eye and ear was a video from a retirement community in Florida, where he retweeted the below video. In the video, some of Trump’s supporters ambled by protesters in golf carts. One of the supporters loudly screamed, “White power!” twice just 10 seconds into the video.
Trump thanked “the great people” in the video.
Trump’s tweet was up for nearly three hours before it was deleted.
In explaining why Trump tweeted and subsequently deleted the video, the White House did not disavow the supporter or his racist rallying cry, but rather claimed Trump “did not hear” the man’s roars.
Trump spent Sunday at his private golf course in Virginia, his second such trip in two days. It was his 272nd visit to a Trump-branded golf course in just over 41 months in office.
