Day 1,211: Maskless Trump at mask distribution center: without coronavirus tests, U.S. would have fewer cases

Donald Trump’s difficulty understanding scientific principles is well-documented. Thursday did nothing to improve his standing.

For instance, Trump complained to the Washington Examiner that Joe Biden was senile before saying “wind…kills all the birds,” likely referring to windmills. (He has previously accused windmill noise of causing cancer.)

“If you asked him who he named, he wouldn’t even know it,” Trump said. “Joe has absolutely no idea what’s happening. AOC is a disaster. She wants all fossil fuel out. She wants everything out. She wants wind, which is expensive — kills all the birds. You know, I’m also an environmentalist. But wind is a disaster.

Later, after touring a mask distribution center in Allentown, Pennsylvania without a mask, Trump had a novel theory about coronavirus testing (something he has never understood the importance of): doing less of it would cause the country to have less infected cases.

Under Trump’s backwards logic, no one would ever need cancer treatment if they never visited an oncologist.

The U.S. has so many cases of the coronavirus because of generally horrific job Trump and his administration did during the early days of the virus. Less than three months ago, Trump was still calling the coronavirus a hoax and claiming it would be gone by April. And while he sat on his hands, the virus raged.

More testing isn’t the problem Trump thinks it is, it’s one of the few remaining solutions.
