Day 1,138: Trump proves, yet again, there is such thing as a stupid question

The old axiom goes: “There’s no such thing as a stupid question.”

Donald Trump proved that wrong on Monday.

With the coronavirus killing over 3,000 people worldwide and a half dozen in the U.S., Trump is still woefully and embarrassingly lost on the basics. As the world inches closer to a pandemic, Trump recently told a crowd that the entire thing was a “new hoax” perpetrated for political reasons.

And yet, on Monday, Trump hosted pharmaceutical executives along with the coronavirus task force to try and understand the timeline for vaccines. One prominent immunologist told a scowling Trump, again, that a vaccine wouldn’t be ready in a month or two, no matter how many times Trump claims it will or should happen.

Trump revealed his unbelievable ignorance when it comes to science and vaccines — the latter of which he has flip-flopped on numerous times regarding their efficacy — when he posed an absurdly stupid question.

Trump asked doctors about using a flu vaccine to treat a completely different disease. It’d be like blindly telling someone to take cholesterol medication to treat depression because they’re both pills. The fact that Trump would even pose this question to doctors, as if this was a viable option and they hadn’t thought about it, shows just how far removed he is from the reality of the current situation and any of the science being discussed in front of him.
