Day 1,132: Trump administration’s response to coronavirus continues to be horrific and dangerous
Few things are worse than putting another’s life at risk over pure stupidity. And yet, Donald Trump and his administration are currently playing a game with millions of lives.
After completely gutting departments that could have spearheaded a response to a pandemic and slashing funds to be able to combat illnesses promptly and effectively, Trump and his Merry Men are responding to the coronavirus outbreak with a remarkable lack of truth, transparency or urgency.
The CDC is being blunt with their assessment.
Behind the scenes, it seems some people understand the danger of the present situation and how dire things can be thanks to Trump’s kneecapping of vital resources.
Unsurprisingly, there’s a total lack of knowledge about an active global crisis within the administration.
Trump economic team is trying to spin additional spreading of the virus and the Dow Jones dropping more than 1,900 points in two days as everything being fine.
Trump, in comparing coronavirus to Ebola in 2014, incoherently claimed that no one had heard of Ebola at that time.
President Donald Trump claimed the novel coronavirus was very much under control in the United States at a news conference from India where he was asked about the spread of COVID-19 around the world. Trump acknowledged that the massive drop in the U.S. stock market Monday was unfortunate, but said the U.S. was in “pretty good shape.”
Trump also defended his past comments about Ebola patients in 2014, claiming, “at that time nobody had even heard of Ebola or even conceived of something where you basically… people would disintegrate.”
And Trump is actually getting fact checked — and covered for — by the White House in real time about the timeline of coronavirus vaccines. During his press conference in India, Trump called vaccines “very close” to being developed.
Looking at the video, it’s clear Trump was talking about coronavirus and not Ebola when discussing timeline. That’s especially the case since a vaccine was produced months ago for Ebola and an Ebola vaccine is not particularly topical considering the present-day potential for a coronavirus pandemic.
The Trump administration's response to a deadly virus has been abhorrent, and that starts at the top. They are woefully unprepared, they remain focused on the wrong issues and they are not properly conveying the danger of the current situation to Americans. They are exacerbating an already deadly problem. It’s overwhelmingly likely that their decisions will lead to many more deaths.
