Day 1,110: Trump ignores national anthem during $3.4M taxpayer-funded Super Bowl party

Donald Trump loves to drape himself in the flag and call himself patriotic. He routinely lambastes those that don’t respect the flag or stand for the anthem, despite the fact that he doesn’t appear to know the words to said anthem.

When he thinks the cameras are off him, however, Trump goofs off. As those around him, including his wife and child, stood quietly at attention during the playing of the national anthem before the Super Bowl, Trump acted like a six-year-old. He waved at guests at his private resort, adjusted his clothes, moved his chair and even made mocking gestures as if pretending to be a bandleader, all while the anthem played.

The cost to taxpayers for Trump’s soiree was substantial.

Taxpayers shelled out another $3.4 million to send President Donald Trump to Florida this weekend so he could host a Super Bowl party for paying guests at his for-profit golf course.

The president’s official schedule shows him spending two and a half hours Sunday evening at a “Super Bowl LIV watch party” at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. Tickets sold for $75 each, but were only available to members of the club — the initiation fee for which reportedly runs about $450,000, with annual dues costing several thousands of dollars more.

The country paid millions of dollars so Trump could host a Super Bowl party while — by his own standards — disrespecting the country.
