Day 1,100: Trump can’t explain why he suddenly switched from being pro-choice to anti-choice
Donald Trump took Friday morning off, apparently to prepare for a 13-minute speech at “March for Life,” an anti-abortion rally at the National Mall.
Speaking in private with Fox News at the event, Trump was asked when and why he went from being a staunch “pro-choice in every respect” advocate to suddenly anti-choice. He answered the simple question completely nonsensically.
Trump tipped his hand as soon as he heard “politics” mentioned as the potential reason for the flip-flop. Trump immediately chuckled and shifted his weight uncomfortably.
That’s because “politics” is the exact answer.
There are many, many rumors about Trump paying for a litany of abortions over the years. But even without those rumors, between how often he has openly bragged about his sexual history — he once claimed dodging STDs was his “personal Vietnam” — and his frequent eschewing of using protection, the likelihood that Trump has not conceived additional children beyond his known five is probably extraordinarily low.
Trump’s policy shifts are beyond transparent attempts to placate the religious right. Yet it’s still jarring to see Trump fail to provide any piece of a cogent answer — fake as it may be — for questions which he should expect to be asked.
