Day 1,071: Americans’ support for removing Trump via impeachment conviction continues to rise
Stump as he may on Twitter about his “perfect” phone call, Donald Trump is seeing less support, not more, as his impeachment defense finishes month number three.
An MSN poll showed its highest levels of support for the Senate convicting Trump of his two articles of impeachment, with obvious trends continuing against him.
The day Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced the impeachment inquiry, there was roughly a 13 point spread opposed to impeaching Trump. Now, some polls are showing 15 point spreads in the opposite direction, representing nearly a 30-point swing in just three months. Since Pelosi’s announcement, per FiveThirtyEight, support for impeachment has gone up about 12 points from Democrats, 10 points from Independents and even 3 points from Republicans.
Most Americans aren’t buying Trump’s ridiculous defenses or standing behind the Senate Republicans’ promise to make any trial into a farce.
