Day 1,070: Grinch Trump didn’t buy Melania a Christmas gift, but had plenty of time to cry and lie on Twitter and play golf
Donald Trump played golf every day from December 21 through December 24. And yet, he couldn’t find time to get his wife Melania a Christmas gift.
Trump sheepishly admitted during a Christmas Eve Q&A with some overseas troops that he was provided a bunch of cards to pick through and chose “the nicest one.” But on the gift front, he was still empty-handed.
Melania might not want to hold her breath on the whole gift thing. When Trump says he’s “working” on something, there tends to be very little of anything coming to fruition.
Trump did find time on Wednesday, however, to tweet more crazy thoughts.
Missing the irony of him not buying a gift, Trump touted an alleged record in holiday sales increases.
But that was an obvious lie, even if the number he seemed to pull out of thin air turns out to be true.
On top of that, because of inflation and population increases, sales should almost always go up somewhere around 3% every year. And last year’s numbers under Trump were dismal, meaning a natural rebound was to be expected.
Trump also continued to push conspiracy theories, despite numerous reports debunking claims like the one below and others.
And, of course, he kept crying about impeachment like a petulant child.
There are 36 more Democrats than Republicans in the House of Representatives, a 16.7% edge. That is hardly a “slight majority,” but Trump is desperately grasping at straws.
He also declined multiple invitations for his lawyers to participate in the hearings, wherein they would be allowed to question certain witnesses. On top of that, Trump has obstructed the investigation at every turn, including blocking many witnesses — including those that work in the White House — from testifying.
