Day 1,053: Trump’s Sunday: 99 tweets and counting
Deranged, angry and scared, Trump’s ramblings reveal quite a bit.
Donald Trump decided to rub his itchy Twitter fingers on his phone Sunday. And then he did so again and again and again and again.
Ninety-nine times and counting, to be exact, as of 11 pm EST.
The retweets, quote-tweets and Trump originals run the gamut, though with a heavy impeachment slant.
Trump misspelled “smoking” for what seems like the 50th time.
He retweeted multiple op-eds that were from October and November.
He lied about a border wall “going up fast.” (To date, less than 100 miles of replacement barrier have been constructed, all on American taxpayers’ dime.)
He was still upset about being an international laughing stock, after NATO allies mocked him and created a ruse to give him a pretend victory. He projected and took it out on the U.S. media.
He pretended to be a TV Guide.
He lied about impeachment hearings — for which he has both declined to participate in and obstructed by instructing key witnesses not to testify — as his deep insecurities shone through.
And he waved off a brutal dictator’s nuclear threats to try and save face after three humiliating summits and his own frequent false promises of North Korea’s denuclearization.
There was the standard lashing out at the media, retweeting far-right trolls, and dozens of tweets revealing a deep insecurity around impeachment. More bizarrely, Sunday’s thread included an op-ed from September about Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings, a mixed martial arts fighter vowing to fight politicians for Trump and Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) lawsuit against CNN where he’s seeking over $400 million in damages because the news network quoted a lawyer about Nunes’ involvement in criminal activity involving that lawyer’s client.
If someone’s 70-something-year-old father, grandfather, uncle, friend or other acted like this, those around him would likely be extremely concerned about their mental state and capacity. For some reason, with Trump, people act like it’s totally fine because he’s always this deranged.
