Day 1,037: Trump called into Fox News and admitted to two impeachable offenses, one war crime and told whoppers for nearly an hour

Donald Trump is historically lazy. With just a meet-and-greet and a listening session on his public schedule, he apparently thought appearing on Fox & Friends for nearly an hour Friday morning would be a good idea.

Trump admitted to holding up military aid to Ukraine, firing James Comey to prevent the FBI from investigating Trump-Russia links and stealing oil in the Middle East. He also told well over a dozen lies and made even his sycophantic hosts visibly uncomfortable with his incoherent rambling.

On the border wall, he lied.

Trump made a strange assertion about his long-promised border wall with Mexico, claiming that the government had deployed high-tech defenses to track migrant activity along the border, including electrifying the barrier.

“We have drones flying to see if anybody is trying to break through the wall. Because if you have a bulldozer or if you have heavy blowtorches and things you can break through. We have the wall, is electrified, so that if anybody touches it we know exactly what is happening we can get there in minutes,” Trump claimed.

On the 2016 election, he lied and blamed Ukraine — citing a frequently debunked conspiracy theory — but not Russia.

He had quite the faux pas about corruption.

He lied (and whined) about his picture not being hung up at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. (Trump didn’t sit for his portrait for many months after his inauguration and it was promptly hung when the White House sent it.)

He was delusional and wrong about a visit to an Apple plant he took less than 48 hours earlier.

Trump said, “I just got back from Austin, Texas, where I was with Tim Cook. He’s going to be building a $1 billion facility to make whatever he makes. You know, that’s Apple. And he’s gonna build this incredible facility. We toured another facility where they make the Mac Pro, which is phenomenal, which was opening — the reason we, you know — it opened that day.”

Facts First: The plant Trump visited did not open that day. The Flex Ltd. facility has been making Apple’s Mac Pro computers since 2013.

He lied about Barack Obama’s record.

Trump said President Barack Obama sent only “pillows and sheets” in aid to Ukraine, adding, “He wouldn’t send anything else.”

Facts First: Obama did refuse to provide lethal aid to Ukraine, but he didn’t send mere pillows and sheets; he sent counter-mortar radars, drones, armored Humvees and night vision devices, among other things.

He admitted to war crimes while having no understanding about current U.S. activity in Syria despite being the commander-in-chief.

He caused the Fox & Friends hosts to squirm as they tried and failed to get a word in as Trump lambasted Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).

He casually admitted to firing Comey to end his investigation into a Trump-Russia conspiracy surrounding the 2016 election. That’s pretty patently obstruction of justice.

And perhaps most shockingly, he freely admitted to the Ukraine-aid/bribery scandal that the impeachment hearings are based on. And he said it like it was no big deal on live TV.

It’s mind-boggling to think a sitting president has the time to call into his favorite TV show and gab for nearly an hour. And it’s crazy that Trump is comfortable enough to tell such absurd lies that even he knows aren’t true. But most of all, it’s shocking that he’s brazen enough to admit to impeachable offenses on live TV and not understand or care about the ramifications.
