Day 1,036: Four days into the work week and Trump has done less than one day’s worth of actual work
It’s incredible how often Donald Trump and his supporters claim he’s very busy and working hard. Especially when the facts say otherwise.
Take this week, for instance.
Despite the White House claiming Trump has been working and not following the impeachment proceedings in real-time, his Twitter account and public schedule say otherwise. Dozens of tweets highlight the impeachment inquiry and his perceived slights with them — sometimes attempting to rebut the witness moments after their testimony — underscore the White House’s lie.
Moreover, his schedule has a dearth of real activity.
- Monday: meeting Federal Reserve chair, intelligence briefing, meeting with Secretary of State (estimated time: two hours)
- Tuesday: meeting with Cabinet, lunch with Vice President (estimated time: one hour, plus lunch)
- Wednesday: tour Apple manufacturing plant in Austin, Texas (estimated time on the ground: two hours)
- Thursday: intelligence briefing, presentation of National Medal of Arts (estimated time: one-and-a-half hours)
Squinting and adding some additional time, there has been maybe eight hours of work in four days.
There are currently questions about his health, but Trump has always had a laughably light schedule. Most presidents don’t have enough time in the day to do everything they want to accomplish. Trump is historically lazy and more than content to watch cable news, tap out tweets and run to his private golf club multiple times a week when the weather allows.
