Day 1,029: Move over ‘thoughts and prayers’: Trump vows to ‘monitor’ yet another school shooting
The uniquely American problem that is mass shootings reared it’s sad head yet again Thursday. In just 16 seconds, a Santa Clarita, California high school student shot five classmates, killing two, before turning the gun on himself.
The typical trope of thoughts and prayers was brought out by some.
And as the shooting was occurring, Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) was on the Senate floor arguing against expanding background checks.
And then there was Donald Trump. The man who has been bought by the gun lobby, vowed to “monitor” the situation like he was anyone else just watching the news.
Trump could spur real change overnight if he wanted to. The GOP would follow his lead, if he was interested. Instead, he wants to go to political rallies, rub elbows with the wealthy and forget about things that would save lives and take real courage.
