Day 1,024: Trump’s Saturday hunting for affirmation: Alabama football and 79 tweets (and counting)

Donald Trump was vociferously booed at the World Series in Washington D.C. last month. He was met with thunderous jeers at an Ultimate Fighting Championship event in New York City last week. So Saturday, he aimed for the lowest of hanging fruit for his cheers: a University of Alabama football game.

He got his applause, of course, and has been tweeting and retweeting about it nonstop, of course.

In fact, he’s been tweeting and retweeting anything and everything for over 15 hours (and counting). Some of his retweeted messages are weeks old. As of 9:45 pm EST, Trump has sent 79 tweets. Many have been about his reception in Tuscaloosa.

Others have been strange.

Some have been incoherent, as he’s been tweeting — and later retweeting himself — about the impeachment inquiry.

There are the obvious lies.

And, unsurprisingly, he’s leaning heavily on his right wing bootlickers who will say anything to defend him.

Saturday was an effort to stoke Trump’s ego and make him relaxed. Based on the obvious ire in his tweets, it doesn’t appear to have worked.
