Day 1,012: Trump forced to see and hear real rebuke of himself, his policies

The White House has largely shielded Donald Trump from bad news and any signs of dissent. Between printing out favorable tweets, feeding him the most favorable possible poll numbers, filtering news and shielding him from protests by taking longer routes to locations, there’s a concerted effort to get him to believe that he’s well-liked.

The problem is, lately, propaganda is getting harder to drum up. There aren’t any good poll numbers to show him. And Sunday and Monday he got to see and hear just how unpopular he is.

While attending Game 5 of the World Series in Washington on Sunday evening — and refusing to throw out the first pitch because he might look fat — Trump was walloped with boos and sardonic “lock him up” chants.

The look on his face revealed his shock.

Monday, Trump was in Chicago, to both disparage the city and raise money. At the fundraiser at Trump Tower, hundreds of protesters called for his removal.

To protect Trump’s ego as much as possible, the motorcade used an old favorite and took a longer route so he wouldn’t see as much of the protests.

Trump’s motorcade took a route that went nowhere near demonstrators and police kept the protesters blocks away from the conference site. Similarly, Trump’s motorcade slipped into the docking area of his hotel, while hundreds of protesters gathered just across the Chicago River.

Trump is historically unpopular and over the past few days he has been forced to see and hear that fact.
